Engraving History...

"To acknowledge the property's history, the couple pressed the names of every owner, from the Algonquin people beyond, on the south side of the structure... The original floorboards accompany the stamped list of property owners."

Happy Australia Day!

Happy Australia Day!
I hope you had a BONZA day!
We celebrated by sitting at the beach and eating an Aussie BBQ in the gorgeous sun
and I feel rested now after 5 fabulous days away from work!
So I guess I'm now ready for a 3 day work week!

So, to celebrate the last few hours of Aus-Day I thought I'd post this image...
It looks like a comfy bed to rest your head!

This is the view from our balcony

And this is where I'll spend quite a lot of my time...
So just in case I'm not back on here before hand...
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY for Tuesday!

What a ceiling!

I love timber battens, especially on the ceiling.
Check out this place...
I love the warmth the timber gives,
I love the organic shapes the timber forms,
but most of all
I love how the air conditioning, the lights and the sprinkler heads have been concealed!

Art on the street...

Another place to visit when in Melbourne...
This is the sporadic surprise that you can find on the corner of Brunswick and Victoria Streets

Great Crates!

I think these would make a lovely gift. These crates are made of FSC {Forestry Stewardship Council} timber and are personalised to suit to recipient. They can even come with castors {for rolling around with ease} and would make a great gift when supplied with plants, soil, gloves, tools and other gardening paraphernalia.

PANTONE® 15-5519 Turquoise

Pantone unveils Turquoise as colour of the year 2010!
“In many cultures, Turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of color,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that Turquoise represents an escape to many – taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy... It is universally flattering, has appeal for men and women, and translates easily to fashion and interiors. With both warm and cool undertones, Turquoise pairs nicely with any other color in the spectrum. Turquoise adds a splash of excitement to neutrals and browns, complements reds and pinks, creates a classic maritime look with deep blues, livens up all other greens, and is especially trend-setting with yellow-greens.”

I've seen some turquoise around...
oh and there's a fair bit of it in yesterday's post

The 3 Wise Men have Arrived...

It's the 6th of December, the 12th day of Christmas, so I'm taking my tree down and packing up all the Christmas decorations for another year...
this job always makes me a little sad...

This years theme was white, red, string and brown paper
{brown paper packages tied up with string...}
The personalised stockings were made by my friend as a Christmas gift a few Christmases ago

It's lovely and warm here.
B is back at work but I have another week off!
YIPEE!
No holidaying here though...
Today will be filled with the following tasks;
1. Tidying
2. Trying to find and organise the finishes for Dad's New Showroom
3. Reviewing the quotes for Dad's New Showroom
4. Planting the Iris and mini agapanthus bulbs that our neighbour across the road gave us whilst thinning out her plot
5. Filling out my diary for 2010!
6. If I finish that before picking B up post-work and then going to dinner with
his brother + wife + our little niece,
then I might just go back on line to have another look at this...

What are you doing today?
