Corrugations

I have to tell you about my family friend Dudley Siviour! My family and I lived across the road from Dudley and his family for around 15 years. Quite a few years ago, Dudley stated making corrugated iron sculptures in the shed in his backyard. Dudley started teaching students to make the sculptures during his technology classes at a local high school and now he has started his own business called Corrugations. You can read more about Dudley and Corrugations here. Incidently, Dudley was MC at our wedding!

Anyway... you may have read (or seen) recently in the news that Australia's Governor-General Quentin Bryce presented two Kangaroos to the President of East Timor during the 10th anniversary celebrations of Timorese Independence - well they were Dudley's sculptures!!! So, Dudley's Kangaroos are now residing in the the Presidential Palace gardens!!!

My Sporadic Surprise of the day: A new (and unknown - at least to me) furniture supplier had a small terracotta pot of flat leaf parsley delivered to me as a marketing device today... I think the concept is Italian Furniture = Italian Parsley?

It is a happy little and very welcome addition to my work area.

Hello Yellow

I love yellow - canary, buttercup, sunshine, citrus...

B tried to fix the cracks in our kitchen wall...

He painted a white undercoat over the existing yellow...

Tonight I bought home yellow paint samples...

The wall will be Mellow Yellow again soon...

I Love Surprises! Especially Sporadic Surprises!!!

Graphic Paper Flowers to Celebrate Spring!!!

Mondocherry is a mother plus 2 daughter combination who happen to make the most amazing framed artworks. I came across the picture above on their blog today and then dropped in on their website. There are lots of other lovely pieces I would like to blog about but I'll let you have a look and tell me what you think (I really like the Botanic Buttons and Text Blooms)

I woke to the sound of many birds cheeping! More beautiful bird sculptures...

Cotton Bird Designs makes these delightful little birdies by hand using stitched fabric and paper. Most of the sculptures are made from vintage and recycled materials.

I think they're charming!!!

Today I became Aunty Diana...

My in laws (my husband's brother and his wife) welcomed their little daughter Georgia Bernice to the world this morning...

We will meet her later this afternoon hopefully.

For now I thought I 'd share what I am gifting to her on her arrival;

A series of four framed clothcakes her the nursery;

and a clothcake jumpsuit with a hot pink top.

It will be a little big at first, she can grow into it;

Sporadic Surprise of the Day: {other than the arrival of said niece and the following is technically was last night's surprise.} Last night we went to depARTure at the Adelaide Art Gallery for the "Push-Pull" exhibition opening and I won two tickets to see "Journey to the West" at the Festival Theatre next month. I can't wait!!
